Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte, better known as Mon Laferte, is a Chilean singer and songwriter. He plays various musical instruments and his main influences are rock, blues and pop. Born and raised in Viña del Mar, she became involved in music at an early age when she entered the conservatory of her city at the age of 13. He stayed there for a year and a half until opting for an independent career, beginning to sing in bars in Valparaíso.
He achieved recognition in his native country thanks to his participation in the TV show Red Talent fame contrafama in 2003, being in third place in the second generation of the program. For several years he stayed associated with the TVN program, under which he released his first album La Chica de Rojo and starred in Rojo, La Película, which was a total success in Chile.
After its success with the program, 1 in 2007 decided to start a new stage under the name of Mon Laferte and settle in Mexico City. Since then, he has published four studio albums, reaching with the third Mon Laferte Vol.1 great recognition in Latin America and a Grammy for best alternative album.
Some of his most outstanding successes are “Tormento”, “Amor completo”, “Si tú me querieras”, “Tu falta de querer” and “Amárrame” .3 This last song earned him the 2017 Latin Grammy for best alternative song .4 In addition, he has collaborated with prominent artists such as Natalia Lafourcade, 5 Julieta Venegas, León Larregui, Carla Morrison, Los Tres, José Luis Rodríguez “El Puma”, Café Tacuba, Juanes, Enrique Bunbury, Manuel García, Ana Gabriel, Palmenia Pizarro, 6 among others.
